    NOTES FROM LEOTA SISK HER SISTER:

    LEOTA NEVER MARRIED. SHE AND HER BROTHER, GEORGE, REARED THE REMAINING CHILD OF THEIR SISTER, PHARRIE SISK MANTOOTH, AFTER HER MURDER. THE INFANT CHILD OF PHARRIE SISK MANTOOTH IS:

    IMA FAIRY MANTOOTH

    ON 13 OCTOBER 1906, CHAMBERLAIN MANTOOTH HAVING BEEN TOLD BY DR. CARTER THAT HIS WIFE, HARRIE (SISK) MANTOOTH WOULD PROBABLY DIE IN CHILDBIRTH, HE WENT "STARK RAVING MADE" AND TOOK AN AXE TO HIS WIFE AND FIVE OF THEIR SIX LIVING CHILDREN. THE GIRL OF ABOUT 17 WAS ABLE TO ESCAPE, BETSEY. THREE OF THE CHILDREN DIED IMMEDIATELY, TWO LATER, WHILE THE MOTHER LIVED LONG ENOUGH TO GIVE BIRTH TO IMA AND THEN LATER DIED. CHAMBERLAIN CUT HIS OWN THROAT. HE AND THE FIRST THREE CHILDREN WERE BURRIED IN A COMMON GRAVE. SOURCE: KNOXVILLE (SENTINEL?), OCTOBER 14, 1906
