Oliver, president of the first college of higher learning in Arkansas, St Johns' College of Arkansas, and Virginia was retained July 1874 at AIU. He, first chair of civil engineering 1874-1879 and existing chair of mathematics 1874-1885, and 1888-1895 before going to Arkansas School for the Blind where he died 1905. 3
