Wherever possible, I have given credit to sources for information. (Anyone whose name I have used may contact me to have their name removed if they so desire.) Some data is not supported by sources, so is speculative and is included FYI in that case. When you email me with queries, please put "Genealogy" in your subject line so my email filter will not delete your message. I welcome all corrections, even pointing out typos.

Willis Simmons was born just after his parents came to the Mississippi Territory from Georgia.

Walter O. Simmons, son of Jackson Simmons, says that his grandparents, "Moved from Mississippi to Louisiana, lived on Beth River. He and his brother, George, went with them, and the other three children were born in Louisiana. Grandfather Willis was buried in Louisiana, then his widow, Matilda, came back to Mississippi with her five children." On the other hand, Albert Leon Simmons, son of Mason, said that his grandparents "Moved back to Georgia and that Willis died there. Afterwards, Matilda came back to Mississippi with the children."

This will not be settled until Willis' burial spot is found, but most believe Walter's version.
