LARKIN, JAMES W., 85, of Calderwood Drive, died Monday at Kent Hospital. He was the husband of Jessie M. (Olson) Larkin.

Born in Providence, a son of the late James W. and Sarah C. (Leland) Larkin, he was Warwick resident for 59 years.

Mr. Larkin was the Chief Referee for the R.I. Department of Security Board of Review for 20 years before retiring in 1983. He was a WW II Army Air Force Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 1 in Providence. Mr. Larkin was a member of the Friendly Mixers Square Dance Club and the American Contract Bridge League, the Providence College Alumni Association and the LaSalle Academy Alumni Assocation. He also served as a tax consultant for the A.A.R.P.

Besides his wife, Mr. Larkin is survived by two sons, Robert J. Larkin and David J. Larkin both of Warwick; one daughter, Jean M. Berry of Eldersburg, MD; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Louise L. Bowen.

His funeral will be Thurday at 9 AM from the Frank P. Trainor & Sons Funeral Home, 982 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Clement Church, Long Street, Warwick at 10 AM. Calling hours Wednesday 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the St. Rose of Lima School will be appreciated. Burial with military honors will be in Saint Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
