Joseph1 Baldwin born 1609/1610 Cholesbury, Bucks, England died 2 Nov 1684 Hadley, Hampshire, MA was married three times. Joseph was of Milford, CT in 1639. Joseph's Will dated 20 Dec 1680 at Northampton, Hampshire, MA my line Baldwin Genealogy Joseph Baldwin was one of the first settlers in Milford, in 1639, and his name appears Nov 20, of that year in the first list of free planters. He was also brother to Nathaniel and Timothy who came same time. About 1663 he removed to Hdley, MA ane was a freeman there with his son Joseph in 1666. The Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England 1620-1633 Vol I-III Josephs' will in Northampton, MA is dated 20 Dec 1680. "New England Families Genealogical and Memorial: Thid Series, Vol IV" Joseph Baldwin was an early settler of Milford, Connecticut. His house lot was No. 52, on West Farm street, near the present station of the New York, New Haven & Hartford railroad. His wife Hannah joined the Milford church, June 23, 1644. About 1663 he went with other Milford men to Hadley, Massachusetts. He was admitted a freeman of Hadley. He died November 2, 1684. His will was dated December 20, 1680. He bequeathed to sons Benjamin, Jonathan, Joseph, and daughters. He married (third) Elizabeth (Hitchcock) Warriner, widow of William Warriner Connecticut Puritan Settlers pg 116 NOTE--By the record at Newark, N. J., it appears that Deacon Lawrence Ward, of Newark, died in 1670, and left no children; that Elizabeth, wife of Joseph Baldwin, of Hadley, Mass., was a sister of said Ward; that said Elizabeth (Ward) Baldwin authorized her son, John Catlin, and John Ward, ("turners,") of Newark, to act for her in relation to the estate of their uncle, Lawrence Ward. (S. H. Conger, Esq.) Robert Lyman was a relative of John Catlin, as the Newark record shows. page 510 It appears the first husband of Elizabeth (Ward) Baldwin was CATTELL, CATTEILL, JOHN, of Wethersfield, was a juror at Hartford, in 1644. This fact proves his respectability and character in Wethersfield. The goods of John Catteel were appraised July 17, 1644. He had a home lot and barn, œ12 and six acres in Mile Meadow, and three acres in Great Meadow, and garden, œ12, 12s. in Wethersfield, all presented to the court by the relict and Wm. Gibbons, adm'rs, total œ69; widow's name not given; no family or distribution found, except his relict. I conjecture he might have left an infant son, John, who was afterward the John Catlin who was m. at Wethersfield, and removed to Branford and Newark, in 1667, and changed his name to Catlin, (see JOHN CATLIN,) as the changing of names at that time was not uncommon.

Isabel was sister of Deacon Lawrence Ward, she authorized her son, John Catlin also John Ward to act for her in relation to the estate of their uncle, Lawrence Ward. Isabel calls John Catlin, of Newark, NJ, her son in 1670; also John Catlin says in a law suit that he was the eldest son of Isabel Catlin aka Isabel Northam. Isabel was the widow of first John Catlin of Neward, NJ and second of James Northam of Hartford, CT.
