      Testator directs that debts due him, goods from Mr. Wm. Hunt, proceeds from sale of The Annapolis Adventure, and money in hand, be applied to payment of debts. Extx. empowered to sell ?Poplar Neck?, Baltimore Co., if necessary, for same purpose. Proceeds from sale of unfinished house in Annapolis to be secured to son Beale, sale of same to be made under advice of John Beale, Robert Gordon, Dr. Charles Carroll, Thomas Worthington and Robert Alexander. Shd. sd. house be sold and sd. son die during his minority, ?240 of proceeds to bro. Samuel, residue to wife; and in case sd. house is not sold, and sd. son shd. die as afsd., sd. house to bro. Samuel and hrs., he paying to wife sd. ?250; in default of such payment sd. house to wife afsd. and hrs. In case sd. house shall be sold, and debts paid by ways ans means above mentioned, and in case of death of sd. son without issue during his minority, ?Poplar Neck? to be divided bet. bros. Benjamin and Edward and their hrs. Shd. sd. son die in minority and without issue, lots in Chester Town, Kent Co., and in London Town, A. A. Co., to bro. Samuel and hrs. Son at age 10 yrs. to be sent to school at Edinburgh, then to college for 3 yrs. and to London for study of the law. ?5 is bequeathed to the master who shall instruct sd. son while at school, and ?10 to the one who tutors him during his study of law. Sd. son to be brought up in the faith of the Established Church of Scotland.

      To wife ------------, extx., 150 A. of ?Norwood?s Beale? during life; at her decease to son Beale and hrs.; he dying without issue, to rightful hrs. of John Beale, wife?s father; and 1/3 personal estate.

      To father-in-law John Beale, mother-in-law Elizabeth Beale, bro. Joseph, sister-in-law Anne Beale, kinswomen Mrs. Anne Norwood and Hannah Norwood, personalty. In case of death of sd. son without issue and in his minority, ?Poplar Neck? to bro. Samuel and hrs.; shd. sd. bro. die during minority and without issue, sd. lands to bros. Benjamin and Edward and hrs. Shd. sd. bro. Samuel die afsd., lots in Kent and A. A. Co. to pass to bros. Benjamin and Edward and their hrs.

      2nd Codicil: 14th Jan., 1731. Father-in-law John Beale appointed guardian to son; in case of his death, James Mouat, Thomas Worthington and John Galloway to act.
