    Settled in Chatham Co. N.C. abt 1775 and also lived in Granville co., N.C. Bought land from his brother,John,on the head waters of ephriam's creek, joining his brother, Joab, and here he built his home. He gave this homplace to his son,Abner, in 1816. Deed proved in 1821

    Some records say his name was 'Marcus.'

    According to Kellam in 'Brooks and Kindred Families,' Mark Brooks did not go to Cumberland County with
    his parents. He may have lived in Granville County, North Carolina for a short time but there are no records
    of him there. Most probably he stayed in Virginia until about 1775. He bought land at headwaters of
    Ephraim's Creek, Chatham County, North Carolina from his brother John, Jr. and built his home there, near
    his brother Joab.

    Mark BROOKS Sr and Fannie HARRIS were married.1,2 Fannie HARRIS1,2 (daughter of John HARRIS and Mary DREW)
    died about 1810.2 Mark BROOKS Sr and Fannie HARRIS had the following children:
    21 i. Mark BROOKS Jr2 died.
    22 ii. Margaret (Peggy) BROOKS2 died.
    23 iii. Unkn BROOKS2 died.
    24 iv. David BROOKS2 was born after 1750.2 He died in 1799 in Newberry Co., SC.2
