Elbert and Gladys, with their two sons, Leeman and Glenn (Buddy) , made their home in Floydada, Texas, from 1920 when they married until Gladys' death in 1957. Both Leeman and Buddy graduated from Floydada High School.
They were members of the First Baptist Church in Floydada. Elbert was President of the First National Bank in Floydada and later served as the Chairman of the Board until his retirement until 1978. He then moved to Amarillo, Texas with his second wife, Eva Douglas Jackson, and they made their home there until his death in 1981. They were members of the Church of Christ, he was a member of the Lions Club, Texas Bankers Association and American Bankers Association.
