    Raleigh and Mary Ann are buried at the Mathews Family Cemetery
    on the Sandy Cross Highway in Oglethorpe County, across the
    highway from the home they built in 1841.
    In the minutes of the Millstone Baptist church of July 4th,
    1858 Rolly H. Mathews was appointed to a committee to propose a
    building plan for the church. Another member included David
    Mathews. Listed on October 22, 1861 is the following, 'Brother
    Rolly H. Mathews died this morning.'
    Raleigh bought 212 acres of land from his father in 1833. In
    1841, he bought the portion on which he lived from his brother
    Charles L. and in 1854 he bought an adjoining tract from E. T.
    Jordan. The house that is still standing on the Sandy Cross
    highway is the home that Raleigh built about 1841. The original
    house had two rooms upstairs and four downstairs. The home is
    still owned by the Mathews family.
