  • ID: I0019
  • Name: Benjamin BONNER
  • Sex: M
  • Birth: 4 FEB 1749/50 in VA, or Granville County, NC 1
  • Death: BEF. 19 SEP 1814 in Spartanburg Dist. SC, Buried Old Bonner Family Cemetery near Gaffney, SC (Will written July 29, 1814, Probated Dec. 10, 1814, Recorded Jan. 19, 1815)
  • Note:
This Benjamin Bonner, husband of Frances, is NOT the same Benjamin Bonner, son of Thomas Bonner and Sarah Peyton. Their Benjamin Bonner married Mary Jennett. Although they are similar in age, they lived in two different counties in NC, and while their Benjamin could sign his full name, this one could only write his mark: "B". It is possible that Benjamin Bonner who married Frances also had a father named Thomas as well, lending to the confusion between the two men. Text: These dates were copied from the tombstones in the Old Bonner Cemetery near Gafney, SC. (Note - this is not the Grassy Pond Cemetery as some mistakenly believe. Old Bonner Cemetery is a few miles north and west of Grassy Pond). We think Anne visited there about 1942. In two separate visits there around 2000, R&H Bonner were unable to locate the stones because of the condition of the cemetery.
