    Ebenezer obtained land title in Knox County on 5 Aug 1811 for the SWquarter of Section 3, Township 2, Range 7.
    Ebenezer was appointed County Treasurer of Daviess Co, IN on the firstSaturday in June, 1817 in a temporary Log Court House in Washington,Daviess Co, IN

    He was provost of the first Agricultural Institute of the WesternTerritory.

    His grandson, Enoch Jones, told the following story about him:

    "Ebenezer was a husky lad, but wasn't quite tall enough to pass thelax requirements for the Continental Army. Being patriotic andresourceful, he just put padding in his shoes and was accepted! A boyof 13 was as expert with a gun in those days as any man. Ebenezerplayed a fife as part of his duties during the war. This batteredinstrument is still in existence somewhere among his descendants."

    Graves for Ebenezer and Mary Roten Jones no longer exist. They wereburied in the old city cemetery at Washington, IN but the city hasbuilt a school and a water tower in the area where their graves were.-- this from email correspondence with Joyce Ann Jones Rosgnol.

      Sometime around the last of August in 1810, the Ebenezer Jones WagonTrain, consisting of some 35 wagons, and 16 families left theSalisbury District of North Carolina, in Rowen Co and headed westwardto Indiana.

      As the Jones family and the Roten family had been writing to oneanother, the idea of migrating westward to Indiana interested theJoseph Hobbs, Sr. family and they agreed to migrate with them. Theydecided to join the wagon train somewhere in Virginia. It was on thiswagon train that young Joseph Hobbs, Jr. met Anna Jones and it was thebeginning of a ten and a half month courtship which ended about twoweeks after the wagon train reached Washington Township, Knox Co,Indiana when on July 11, 1811, Joseph and Anna were married.
