!He changed his name to Alfred David Edwards in later years (1930 U. S. Census still shows name as Arthur), he said because there was an Arthur Edwards who was always in trouble with the law in the area. We think it was because he had left his job on a train in the Depression years and that constituted being "black balled" on getting another job on the railroad. He left because his mother was very ill, so he "jumped train". He was a grandfather, father, uncle and friend to all the members of the family or strangers. He would help anyone in trouble. He could put himself with any age group, play on the floor with the toddlers, teach the youngsters to fish, jitterbug with the teens and be a real pal. This activity continued until his death.
