In 1820, Simeon Mote (son of William, Jr.) of Jackson County, a Revolutionary veteran, drew Irwin County land, which reverted, and members of the family were enumerated, including Levi in Habersham County, others in Columbia, Chatham and Wilkinson Counties, some spelled Motes.
