ID: I07108
Name: Sarah BOXSHALL
Sex: F
Birth: 13 APR 1827 in Dorking, Surry, UK
Reference Number: 573
Note: Sarah came to Port Phillip with her parents William Boxshall and Jane (Pratt). They, together with Williams brother James and his family were among Dendy's Immigrants in 1842 on the Earl of Durham. On arrival they found Mr. Dendy was unable to find them the promised work and accommodation and they had to "make do" in Melbourne. Both wives had given birth to sons on the voyage and Sarah's mother Jane died a short time after arrival. Sarah married William Ward in 1844 when she would have been 16 or 17. They seem to have lived for some years in Melbourne. When their daughter Louisa Catherine was drowned in 1855 the inquest recorded that they lived very close to her parents in Brighton Vic. Some time before 1867 they moved to Boondara Station near Hillston where Harry and his twin Maria were born followed by Grace in 1872. I have been unable to find a death record for Sarah.[Blay.FTW]
