Note: James & Alice Arrived in Sydney aboard the ship "Emperor" in 1851, according to the records their name was "Gerraghty". (ARK Reel 2136/2462)
His ship records showed him as being 28 at the time of his arrival in Sydney, however his death records showed him as being 38. He was buried in the Catholic Church cemetery at Petersham. The Petersham Cemetery was closed 3 years after his death and the site was used for the construction of Lewisham Hospital. Little is known of where many of the bodies were moved, or if they were moved at all. The Church is now known as St Thomas, Lewisham. His occupation on his death certificate was dairyman & shopkeeper[Blay.FTW]
