DESCRIPTION The collection of photographs documents members of the Sinclair and Sutton family residing at Torrington. Most Photos have been taken at Torrington between 1900-1925. Photographer Alby Tom' is pictured in 3 photos. Alby Tom was a close family friend of the Suttons. This is particularly observed through the charming photographs of children in the natural environment of the Torrington region.

1. Alby Tom was the son of William Tom (I 791-1883). William was one of the first men to discover goldnear his home at Springfield in the mid 1800's. A plaque at Ophir in 1923 was unveiled recording the parts played by Edward Hammond Hargraves, the Toms and John Lister in the discovery of payable gold 1.
