    After her husband Arthur's death, Mary ran a saloon and grocery at the family's place on the corner of 25th and Union Streets. In April 1865, in accordance with a contract signed by her late husband, she purchased the property on 31st Street where SHERRYs would live after the turn of the century. In the 1870 census, her real estate holdings were worth $6,000 and she had $50 in personal worth.

    The WALL surname comes from Norman settlers named de Valle, which was gaelicized as de Bhal. Branches of this family settled in the country between Limerick and Waterford.
