    Joseph died 1837, leaving a large family at the age of 78.

    "Came into Court Joseph Kettlewell an alien, a native of England, and subject of the king of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and being duly sworn in open Court, on his solemn oath declare that it is bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce and abjure forever all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign prince potentiate state or sovereignly whatever, and particularly to Geroge the 4th king of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland whereof he is a subject."

      Unfortunately for those searchers before me, Joseph's last name was spelled RETTLEWELL--on the 1820 census he was HETTLEWELL. Go Figure!
