    Mecklenburg Co. Deed Bk 12, p. 369, William & Nancy Allen sold 148 acres of land to Joseph Butler. Property was bordered by the lands of John Morgan, Young Hudson, Allen Young, John Hutcheson, Elisha Burton, John Pritchard, Henry Coleman and Richard P. Montgomery.

    1820: Elisha Burton (M>45) appears as head of a family in Person Co, NC census, page 484. Also enumerated F26-45,M10-16,2M<10,2F<10. John Chamberlain (M>45) appears as head of a family in Surry Co, NC census, page 678. Josiah Cowles (M26-45) also appears on page 678.

    1830: Elisha Burton (M50-60) appears as head of a family in Surry Co, NC census, page 099. Also enumerated are F30-40,M20-30,2M15-20,2F10-15. Josiah Cowles (M30-40) appears on page 083. Milly Chamberlin (M60-70) appears at the top of page 101. Also enumerated are F20-30, F5-10.

Recorded in Surry Co, NC Inventories, Accounts and Settlements, File 20-A. Loose papers are also in estate files at the NC Archives.
