Clement K. Wall first shows up on the 1800 Federal Census Population Schedule of Guilford Co., NC. His family migrated to Williamson Co., TN about 1804 settling in the Flat Creek community. During the 1830's he and most of his children migrated to Fayette Co., TN.
Margaret Wall died in 1843 in Fayette Co. and was buried at present day Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Her maiden name is unknown; the name Brown has some significance in this family since it was given to at least three of the children for middle names. There are a number of possibilities for this. One possibility is that Margaret's maiden name may have been Brown. Another possibility is that Clem's mother's maiden name may have been Brown. Yet another possibility is that Clem and Margaret knew someone named Brown who fought in the Revolutionary War and decided to honor this person by naming their children this way. More research is needed to unravel this puzzle.
In 1846 Clement WALL purchased 800 acres of land in Marshall Co., MS which he finished making payments on in 1850. He is found in the 1850 census residing with his son, Hanceford WALL, and died in 1854 in Marshall Co., MS and was buried at Mt. Zion (West) Cemetery, Benton Co., MS.
Clem Wall died intestate leaving the 800 acres of land which could not be fairly divided among his heirs. The heirs tried to sell the 800 acres undivided unsuccessfully and this case was not finally settled until 1868 when the land was divided into three parts and sold.
