I, Abraham Fonda, of Claverack, in Albany County, being weak and sick in body, and being desirous to settle my affairs. "In the first place, I leave to my oldest son Stephanus my large bible for his birthright, so that he shall make no further pretension to my estate." I leave to my four sons, Stephanus, Peter, Laurens, and Abraham, all that I had by and with my deceased wife, Elbertie Fonda, from my father-in-law, Stephen VanAlen, and what further may be expected. "It is my will that my 8 sons, Stephanus, Peter, Laurens, Abraham, Johannes, Jeremiah, Dowe, and Cornelius, shall provide my present wife Janettie an honorable and comfortable maintenance of all things necessary while she remains my widow, and at her death a Christian like and decent burial. None of my sons shall assume the right to domineer over the rest, especially my youngest sons.
