Nare - Alice Fonda, widow of Daniel Nare, died Saturday evening at 9 o'clock at the Home for Elderly Women on Guy Park avenue. Mrs. Nare was born in the town of Mohawk September 24, 1847, the daughter of Henry and Eveline Dockstader Fonda. In 1869 she was married to Daniel Nare and until his death in 1915 lived on a farm north of this city. She had been a member of the First Methodist church of Amsterdam for 60 years and attended the Bible class of that church as long as her heart permitted. She was always interested in the Home for Elderly Women and in its earliest days was one of its strongest supporters. She is survived by four nieces, Mrs. George McQueen, of Perth, Mrs. Charles Newnham, of this city, Miss Lena Argersinger, of Fonda and Mrs. Henry Van der Bogart, of Syracuse, and two nephews, Harry Hall of Amsterdam and Boyd Argersinger of Fonda. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Home for Elderly Women, Amsterdam, the Rev. John A. Hamilton officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen cemetery, Sand Flats. Mrs. Nare was born in Fonda in 1847, the daughter of Henry (Fonda) and Eveline Dockstader. She was a sister of the late Mrs. C. Argersinger of this village and often spent many weeks of her late life at the Argersinger home. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home for Elderly Women, Amsterdam, of which she has been an inmate for the past two years.
