Killian Farmed near Pleasant Grove, where he was a ruling elder of the Donegal Presbyterian Church. In 1841 he was censured by the church session for bringing in a minister of another demonination (New School) to preach at the church. Session advised him that if he did not see the error of his ways, he should leave and go to another church. This may have had an influence in his decision to move to Peru, Indiana, which he did ca. 1855. In 1860, Killian was an innkeeper in Peru, with a staff of eight, and 14 residents. He and and his first wife, Elizabeth MC MILLAN, buried six infant children in the cemetery at Pleasant Grove, before moving to Indiana.
