As with any genealogical effort, this is a work-in-progress and includes information shared by various family members. While every attempt to document all sources has been made, there are many opportunities for human error and conflicts within the sources themselves. Buried with husband and his second wife Jane nee Foster. On 2 November 1792, a Welsh drover, William Ellis, decided to seek some female solace at a brothel in London where during the course of the evening frolic, his bedmate attempted to relieve him of a watch valued at 20/- and the sum of 31 pounds. In the ensuing struggle, Jane became involved on the side of her sister of the night. Five women were arrested and four convicted. In Dec 1792, the convicted four were sentenced to death. In February 1793, the sentence was varied to transportation for life.
Firstly Jane commenced a de-facto relationship with a William Bryant to whom she had two daughters. What happened to William Bryant is uncertain but he is possibly one of those who fled the colony to Batavia and eventually hanged.
She was convicted under the name Jane ISON - why ISON? On the family vault, her dob is shown as 31 July 1770.
