Note: Immigrated from Ireland to York County, Pennsylvania, in about 1774. Remarried in Pennsylvania. Moved from Fayette County, Pennsylvania, to Kentucky in 1790. Listed on tax list in Woodford County, Kentucky in 1792, 1793, 1794, and 1795. Moved to Jefferson County, Indiana by 1813.
Note: The "Buchanan Station" blockhouse was built on his property in 1812 or 1813 as protection from Indians who were still in the southern Indiana area. "Buchanan Station" was constructed in Brown Township, Ripley Co., Indiana, in 1812 or 1813.
Note: NOTE: Some family genealogists claim that this man's father was William Alexander Buchanan, born about 1698 in County Donegal, Ireland. HOWEVER, no proof has been offered to support the claims. It is highly speculative that George was the son of William b. 1698 in County Donegal. Consequently, this database will not link George to any parent.
