Levi was a Civil War veteran. He served in Co. A 92nd Infantry. On 9-29-1862 he was promoted to corporal. He was captured 10-27-1864 at Hatcher's Run. He was paroled. He was mustered out 6-20-1865 at Annapolis. Source, Adjutant General Records. Levi at the age of 45 is described as having dark skin, dark hair and hazel eyes. He contracted rheumatism while in prisoner of war camp in Salisbury, NC. He also indicated that he suffered an injury to his stomach on Feb. 2, 1865 in the line of duty in Annapolis, MD. He also suffered from typhoid fever while a prisoner. Levi said he was married in the town of Bridge Creek while Adaline said it was Augusta, WI. Both parents list Mary with the middle initial of either J or G. Prisoner of War Records show him captured at Fair Oaks, VA Oct 28, 1864. He was sent from Richmond, VA to Salisbury NC Nov 4, 1864. He was paroled at Wilmington NC Feb25, 1865. Reported at Camp Parole MD Mar 10, 1865. He was in the hospital Div. 2 for an unknown period and furloughed. He returned May 14, 1865 and was mustered out June 20, 1865 at Annapolis, MD.
