This John Krause(or was it Herman?) was in the area of Elgin IL, at about 1885 and then moved to some other state or area. My grandfather Charlie Krause (Carl Gustav Wilhelm Krause) lost track of him and never was able to find his whereabouts.(The story of the Uncle John Krause was related to me by my grandfather in about 1956-1957 when he was 76-77 years old. He must have been confused and was mixing up his father, Johann/John and his Uncle Herman(AEK))
Moved from IL to WI after May 1886, two children were born in IL. In IL for 3 years according to Obit. This stay of 3 years in IL might have been to complete a sponsorship that brought this Krause family to the USA. Should check the 1885 State Census to determine where the family was located and what happened to Herman's mother, Caroline. Did she remarry of die in IL???!!!!!! A hint on where to look is a reference to Hersh's Grove mentioned by the descendants of John Krause while visiting in Elgin, IL, in 1965. Caroline, widow of John Krause remarried Henry Knickrehm and he was located in Schaumburg Twp., Cook Co., IL, in the 1880 Census. This might help to determine where Herman's family was from 1884-1887.
Y-Chromosome DNA analysis on a male descendant of Herman has shown a genetic distance of one compared to a descendant of John. Since this marker is the same for the descendant of Herman and the other Branches called 1B,C,D,E,F,G then the change has occurred in the descendant of John. Further testing of another descendant of John gave results that were identical to those for the descendant of Herman. This information had added to the proof that Herman and John were brothers and the change of one had been in either Edwin or Arnold Krause.
