Note: Johann/John Krause was killed in the war in Prussia. His wife and two sons John, and Carl(Charlie), and four daughters came to the U.S.A. to relatives. So far, these relatives have not been located but may point to the Berrien Co., MI, Krause group as Michigan was the stated destination of Branch-One-A Krause group according to the ship list.
No documents has been found to indicate that Charlotte, age 60, in 1884 is the mother of Johann/John. Since these two families were together on the same ship and lived in close proximity in Kries Schlochau, Germany (about 2miles) and John's daughter, Caroline, born in 1873 at the same location as Hermann and his mother Caroline were from, then it has been assumed that Herman and John are sons of Caroline. Another minor indication of possible connection between Herman and John is that the first three daughters of both families are named exactly the same. Y-Chromosome DNA analysis on a male descendant of Herman has shown a genetic distance of one compared to a descendant of John. A second male descendant of John has a genetic distance of zero to a descendant of Herman. Since this marker is the same for the descendant of Herman and the other Branches called 1B,C,D,E,F,G then the change has occurred in the descendant of John. This information had added to the proof that Herman and John were brothers.
Carl(Charlie) talked about an Uncle John that had come to the USA and had moved away to another state and was never heard from again. It appears that at the age of 75+, his mind must have been playing tricks on him as his father was John(Johann) and his uncle was Herman who had moved to Wisconsin. Other sisters (4) were also part of the group to come to the USA as well as his grandmother Krause.
