Services were held last Friday afternoon for Myrl Jessie White, 91, rural Altamont who died March 21, 1989 at the Arkhaven nursing home in Altamont.
Mrs. White was born February 6, 1898 in rural Altamont to Jim and Jessie McArthur Gearhiser. She had lived all of her life near the family farm at Altamont.
She was married to Claude Foster in January 1922[sic]. He died in 1926. She married George White in 1929. He died in 1954.
She was a member of the Spring Valley United Methodist Church, the Rebekah Lodge for 73 years, the Altamont Grange and the Labette County Pomona Grange.
Survivors include a son, Herman 'Cy' Foster of Altamont; two brothers, Charles and George Gearhiser and a sister, Clara Gearhiser, all of Altamont; two grandchildren, a step-grandson, seven great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
A son, daughter and brother preceded her in death.
Burial was in Elston Cemetery in rural Altamont under the directions of the Bath Funeral Home of Altamont.
The family suggests memorials to the Spring Valley United Methodist Church.
