    JACOB STUMP WAS THE FIRST SON OF FREDERICK STUMP AND ANN SNAVELY, BORN CIRCA 1758 AT FREDERICKBURG, PENNSYLVANIA. HE CAME TO NASHVILLE, DAVIDSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE WITH HIS PARENTS AND ON MAY 1, 1780 SIGNED THE CUMBERLAND COMPACT ALONG WITH HIS FATHER.

    JACOB WAS KILLED BY INDIANS WHILE OUT WITH HIS FATHER AND BROTHER-IN-LAW JONATHAN GAIS, IN NOVEMBER OR DECEMBER 1780, AND IS BURIED IN THE FAMILY CEMETERY, NEAR WHITE'S CREEK, AT NASHVILLE.
