    Jean CREVIER de Saint-Francois b 3 Apr. 1642 T-R. d. around Aug. 1693,
    fur-trader, m. Marguerite 26 Nov. 1663. His brother-in-law was Pierre BOUCHER
    who founded BOUCHERVILLE. In 1678 he was one of 20 settlers summoned to Quebec
    by FROTENAC to vote on whether or not "spirits" should be traded to the
    Indians. Jean voted in favour of it.
  • Note:
    During a raid by the Iroquois in Aug. 1693 he was captured and carried
    off. As he was being prepared to be burnt alive, Major Peter SCHUYLER [that
    name is certainly familiar!] the commandant of the Albany garrison, ransomed
    him for 50 livres, but Jean died shortly afterwards of his wounds. His and
    Marguerite's son Louis had previously been killed during Francois Hertel's
    expedition to Salmon Falls in 1690.
