  • Note: Chester was freight conductor on the Susquehanna division of the Erie railway and resided at Hornellsville (Now Hornell), New York at the time of his death. His train left Hornellsville early in the morning of September 21, 1872 and had run five miles to Canisteo when he was walking over his train of flat cars, and fell between tow cars. The engine was attached to the caboose and he was taken to his home. He died about 6 PM.
