Obituary Johnstown Democrat: McGOUGH--Jessie Mae, 86, Portage RD1, died 9 Mar. 1973 at Memorial Hospital. Daughter of George and Elizabeth MYERS. Born in Summerhill. Preceded in death by husband, Walter A. McGOUGH; mother and father, 7 brothers and sisters; and son Delbert. Survived by these children: Russell McGOUGH Conemaugh RD1; Natalie, wife of D.L. BEANER, Johnstown RD4; Elaine SHATROSKY Mineral Point RD1; Oscar McGOUGH, Portage RD1; Isabel, wife of Germane SCHRIFT, Wilmore; Rosalie, wife of Doss WATSON, Ocala, FL; June, wife of Conrad SCHRIFT, Summerhill; Walter McGOUGH, Bethesda, MD; also 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and a gggrandchild. Sister of Newton MYERS, Lewistown; Catherine LAKIN, Southmont; Oscar MYERS, Tacoma, WA. Friends will be received at Charles O. DIMOND Funeral Home from 6-10 pm Sat. and from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Sun. Grandma was a short, stocky woman and loved to sing. She worked very hard. Used a coal stove to cook and would often chop wood to burn even when there was an electric stove in the kitchen. Her hands were never idle. She made clothes for all her children and for many grandchildren as well. I remember her holding up a newspaper to my body and cutting around it to make a pattern for a dress for me. She also did lovely needlework and there was always a quilt in the frame in the winter. She was very strong, did what had to be done without complaining and was very serious about her church.
