He came to Delaware County, New York in 1815 bringing his family except for Lyman, the eldest who remained in Connecticut with his Uncle. Zalmon took up one hundred acres of timbered land in the town of Walton, near East Brook. He was a stone mason by trade, therefore did not give all his attention to farming.
He died in his old age at the home of his son, Albert G. at Rock Rift and Hannah, his wife died on East Brooke at the house of her daughter, Sarah A. a few years later.
His body was removed for the construction of the Cannonsville Reservoir 1995-1965. His G. G. granddaughter, Mrs. Elsie M. Goodrich had it removed to Walton.
