Note: She is a house worker on the Herbert Southard farm in the 1900 Census In Richland County. It was taken in June. She was 19 then. Edwin was there as a single person too. The couple that owned the farm were a young couple - maybe they were all friends.
Sunday, July 31, 1938 - The Escanaba (Mich) Daily Press --------- -----------Death Claims Mrs. E. M. Slye -- Local resident Had Been Ailing for Long Time ---- Mrs. E. M. Slye, 57, at 915 1/2 Dakota Ave. passed away yesterday afternoon following a long illness. Mrs. Slye had been in failing health for some time and had been confined since February. Mrs. Slye, nee Emma Jansky was born May 16, 1881at West Lima, Wis., where she was reared and schooled. Following marriage the family resided at a number of points in Wisconsin before coming to Trenary 23 years ago. The family has resided in Gladstone for the past 13 years. The deceased was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. Surviving are the widower, two daughters, Irene at home and Dorothey of Washington, D.C., seven sons, Merle and Cyril of Milwaukee, Orville of Washington, D. C. Raymond of Duluth, Wilbur and Dean of Detroit, and Arthur at home. There are also two brothers, Wencil Jansky of Yuba, Wis., Cyril Jansky of Madison, Wis., and a sister Mary of Yuba. The body was removed to Swenson Brothers funeral Parlor. Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed.
