95. George Washington Briggs was b. in Briggsville, Luzerne Co PA October 27, 1809. He d. March 6, 1887.

He m. Catherine Kuehn in Luzerne Co PA, April 24, 1834. She was b. in Luzerne Co PA June 29, 1812.


George Washington Briggs and Catherine Kuehn had the following ch:


i. Albert G Briggs was b. June 9, 1836.

ii. Mortimer L Briggs was b. March 3, 1838.

iii. Richard F Briggs was b. August 27, 1839.

iv. John E Briggs was b. March 27, 1841.

v. Levi W Briggs was b. in Luzerne Co PA January 3, 1843. He m. Elmira Smith 1875. She was b (d/o Phineas & Rebecca (Hughes) Smith).

L.W. BRIGGS, farmer, P.O. Briggsville, was born January 3, 1843, in Nescopeck township, on the farm where he now resides, a son of George W. and Catherine (Keen) Briggs. His paternal grandfather, John Briggs, and maternal grandfather, George Keen, were both pioneers of Nescopeck township. George W. Briggs was an agriculturist, and cleared a part of the farm owned and occupied by our subject. His children were Albert G., Mortimer L., John E., Levi W., Maria (Mrs. A. Kirkendall) and Fanny. Our subject was reared in Nescopeck township, and has always resided in the old homestead. In 1875 he married Elmira, daughter of Phineas J. and Rebecca (Hughes) Smith, of Sugar Loaf township. Politically, he is a Democrat.

vi. Martha M Briggs was b. October 15, 1844.

vii. Simon Briggs was b. November 17, 1846.

viii. Maria Briggs was b. in Luzerne Co PA November 1, 1848. She d. August 1, 1924 in Luzerne Co PA. She was bu. in Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick PA. She m. Ashbel B Kirkendall in Columbia Co PA, April 18,1874. He was b. in Columbia Co PA December 5, 1847.

ix. Frances B Briggs was b. September 17, 1854.

x. Alexander B Briggs was b. October 25, 1857.
