IMMIGRATION: Found a Cornelius Oatham immigrated to NZ... recorded in
Papers Past in 1864 on 'Rangoon' which carried 101 immigrants- several
had secured their own passage but the greater number are bought out under
the System of Guaranteed Immigration. Some have been nominated, others
settled from agricultural districts by agent if person residing here.
Another entry says that Cornelius Samuel Oatham was named amongst
defaulters who were indepted tp the Provincal Gov., for assisted passage
dated 9th August 1870.
