"Harriett Ratliff Dies Early Today"
Aged Wells County resident dies at home of son, Robert Ratliff.
Mrs. Harriett Goff Ratliff, 80, died at 3:20 a.m. today at the home ofher son, Robert Ratliff, one-half mile west of Pleasant View. She hadbeen in poor health four weeks. Mrs. Ratliff was born in Harrisontownship, Wells County, on Aug. 22, 1857, a daughter of Arza and ElectraMahalay [sic] Goff.
Her marriage to Frank Ratliff [Sylvester Franklin Ratliff] took place onOct. 16, 1875. He preceded her in death on Nov. 16, 1898.
Surviving are three sons and one daughter, Charles and Robert Ratliff, ofBluffton; Elwood Ratliff, of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. R. R. Smith, of St.Louis, Mo. One son, Clinton J. Ratliff, is deceased. Onebrother,George Goff and three sisters, Mrs. John Falk, Mrs. Ad Savage, and Mrs.Aaron Clark, are all deceased.
Mrs. Ratliff was a lifelong resident of Wells County. The body wasremoved to the Thoma funeral chapel. Funeral serviceswill be held at 2p. m. Thursday at the Thoma funeral chapel and burial will be in theBethel cemetery."
