Absalom enlisted on 18 May 1838 as a pvt. in Capt Bogges' Company of Georgia Volunteers for the Seminole War. Discharged on 26 Jun 1838 at Nahunta, in 1882 (from Traveler's Rest, Coosa County, Alabama) he applied for a U.S. veterean's pension based on disability (rupture sustained during military service) There is no record as to whether or not he was granted a pension. He says that since 1838, had lived in Carroll Co, Ga and Coosa Co, Al. Land grant #403 shows that he was granted 40 acres in Montgomery, Co, AL on 2 Oct 1854.
