While in California Hospital recovering from nerves, he married a nurse by the name of "Betty". They were divorced shortly after when he returned to Michigan. The marriage was never reported by him when applying for other marriage certificates.

When young, he had a beautiful voice and sang with a band and played guitar.

He also had a very good personality but violant temper.
