    Note:
    Abraham was mentioned in his uncle David's will 14 August 1781, in
    Huntington,Long Island. (Vol. 10, NY Historical Society Collection, p.
    160). He seems tohave been very familiar with Huntington, the country and
    the families there,although he spent his life in CT. A prominent Doctor,
    he
    was known throughout the CT countryside, serving the Stamford and New
    Canaan area.
    He was chosen ruling Elder of the New Canaan Church, 2 August 1754, and
    was
    sent as a delegate to the Presbytery at Brookhaven, Suffolk Co., Long
    Island.
    He and histhree eldest sons, Abraham, David and Nathan, served at the
    Battle of Ridgefield. One of the boys enlisted four different times.
    During
    the Battle of Ridgefield, the youngest son, Stephen, age 6, and his mother
    Jerusha had to hide in caves for safety.
    Abraham bought part of "Cherry Brook", his father's home place, and
    established a fine home which his son Nathaniel succeeded to. His son
    David
    became the owner of the original David Chichester home at "Cherry Brook".
    The Rev. William Drummond reported visiting in this home on Christmas Eve,
    1772, and meeting Abraham, David and their families there.
    He and Jerushawere married by Rev. John Eyles.
    He and Jerusha were admitted into the Churchin New Canaan, December 2,
    1753, reaffirmed November 6, 1774.
