Ike Smith, of Dexter, MO, the Great Grandson of Stewart Hanks told methat his Great Grandfather was a doctor and that he was bitten by a snakeand died four days later. He had gone out the Pyletown to check on awoman who was pregnant and on the way back a snake struck him in the backside while he was on his horse. He doesn't know when he died or where heis buried. The 1870 Stoddard County Census confirms that he was aphysician. He was not in the 1880 Census, so he must have died between1870 & 1880.

gives date of birth and parents lists as Sturt Hanks and M.E.C. Almon.

Margaret E. Caroline Almon Hanks died of Consumption according to theKentucky Vital Statistics 1852-1862, in July 1855.
