Columbiana Co., OH Friday April 3, 1896 MINER KILLED at North Lawrence Today by a Moving Train STRUCK BY A WRECKED WAGON which is demolished by a Fort Wayne Train-Narrow Escape of a Brewery Driver of Massillon. Source: Canton Repository Massillon, April 3 -(Special) In passing over the Fort Wayne track at North Lawrence, just before noon, a Massillon brewery truck, driven by Charles Mathews, was struck by west bound express No 9 and completely demolished. The wrecked wagon struck Moses Farmer, a coal miner, standing near by and instantly killed him. He was bleeding profusely from the mouth and nose when picked up. He leaves seven children. One of his boys was fatally burned in a Dalton mine explosion not long ago. (This would have been Joseph).
