I had not seen my Dad for 19 years when I got the call that he had
died. He died in the VA Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. He had been
living there for 6 years. We lived in the same town for 4 years and did
not know it. Him and my mom split up when I was 10, we lived in
Jasonville at that time. I went to live with my MaMaw when they split
up, Mom went to Terre Haute to live with her mom and my Dad went to who
knows where. That was in 1958. He showed back up in 1959 but only stayed
for a day. He was weird at that time. He then reappeared in 1961. I
had been living with my mom then in Terre Haute for about a year, we had
a house on N. 13 1/2 Street. He beat the heck out of my mom while I was
at school, my grandmother, DoDo, happened to go by to check up on Mom
when she found him in the process of beating her. He ran and she chased
him and finally someone got him stopped and he went to jail. He did 6
months at Putnamville that time. I went to spend a couple of days with
him when he got released at my Uncle Ed's house in Jasonville. Him and I
went to my Uncle Ed's cabin on the White River for those two days. The
only thing in my mind that I can remember was that I hated him and
thought he was crazy. All he ever talked about was himself, and the
mofia dudes that was after him. Then the next time I heard anything was
when I was 17, already married and had Carla when I heard it over the
news that he had been picked up in Terre Haute for vagrency and carrying
a concealed weapon, a straight razor. When he got out me and Frank went
to see him and my MaMaw at my Uncle Ed's, he was still crazy to me. And
that was the last time I ever saw him alive or ever even heard from him
    until he dies.
