Note: Carl Waterstraat was born in Germany Oct. 28, 1837 and died Thursday August 22, 1907 at the home of his son, Frank in the north part of the county leaving three sons and two daughters to mourn the loss of an affectionate father. The funeral services were conducted by Elder M. V. Alderman at the home of Frank Waterstraat Friday and the remains laid to rest by the side of his wife in the family cemetery in Rock county.

Note: His son Frank lived near Blake, NE, Garfield County, Highland Precinct. Frank's wife was Anna Garska. Her parents (Johann Garska) also lived in Rock Co. near Waterstraats. (Carl Sr.)
