  • Note: HOMESTEAD: The original land holding of James Lane was thought to contain a house known as Albion. This may have been one of the oldest homesteads in western Fairfax County. It seems probable that this, the early plantation home of James and Lydia Lane, was the 200 year old house referred to by a descendant of the Lanes who visited Mrs. Franklin about 1938 (Evans 1979). It was probably at Albion that Lydia Lane died in 1794.
