Dad is buried at Riverview Memorial, Charleston County S.C.. He is next to my brother Joe.
My Dad was adopted by Joseph Marion Carter and Rebecca Smith. As explained to me, my Dad's biological last name was Chitwood.
My Dad's first wife was Katie Lou Huggins (31 May 1912 - 23 Apr 1937) They had two children Joann and James Henry. Katie's Mom was Lori Lane, she remarried. Both Katie and Lori are buried at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, about 2 1/2 miles outside of Ehrhardt on 601.

Paul Monroe Carter, 87, of Charleston, a retired employee with the Post and Courier and a retired maintenance worker with Charleston County Club died Tuesday in a local hospital. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Stuhr's North Area Chapel. Burial will be in Riverview Memorial Park in North Charleston.
Mr. Carter was born in Bamberg, a son of Joseph M. Carter and Rebecca Smith Carter. He was a member of Riverview Baptist Church in North Charleston.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Evelyn Blume Carter of Goose Creek, two sons, Paul J. Carter of Hampton Va., and Thomas E. Carter of Summerville; three daughters, Jerrie C. Clark of Scranton, Carolyn C. Pye of North Charleston and Cecelia C. Kelehear of Coward; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
