Name: Elizabeth COLLIER
Given Name: Elizabeth
Birth: March 9, 1618 (or 1616) in Southwark, England or Staffordshire, Eng.
Death: aft. Feb. 20, 1678-79 (or 1671) in Plymouth or Duxbury, MA
2 birth records for Elizabeth Collier, daughter of William Collier: one shows she was born 1618 at St. Olave, Southwark, England to Wm. Collier and first wife, Jane Clark. The other shows an Elizabeth Collier b. abt. 1650 in Staffordshire, England to Wm. Collier and second wife, Sally Culliford Collier (or perhaps to Alice of Stanton, another wife ? of Wm.Collier in England). Elizabeth Collier appears in the Plymouth, MA tax list of March 25, 1633, still unmarried at that time.
Elizabeth Collier immigrated to American colonies with father, Wm. Collier and siblings, Sarah, Rebecca, and Mary Collier. There she married Constant Southworth in Plymouth, MA on Nov. 2, 1637. Constant Southworth was one of the original settlers to the new world, arriving in Plymouth, MA in 1628, then moving to Duxbury, MA, where he held several colonial offices and received several land grants from the king. At his death in 1679, he provided to "my dear and loving wife Elizabeth Southworth for and during the term of her natural life my dwelling house with the outhousing and mill belonging unto it and all my uplands and meadows" in Duxbury or Marshfield, along with 50 pounds and some furniture. He also left to sons, Edward, Nathaniell, and three daughters Marcye, Allice, and Mary the other half of his freeman's land. From this we know that Elizabeth had two sons, Edward and Nathaniell, and three daughters, Marcye, Allice, and Mary. Three other children of Elizabeth Collier Southworth were: Elizabeth, Presilla, and William--these three were the youngest of 8 children that Constant Southworth provided for in his will by leaving them "moveables, and some land to grandson Constant."
Elizabeth Collier Southworth died having had 10 children, so perhaps she may have married again after Constant's death: Mercy, Priscilla, Edward, Alice, Nathaniel, Mary, William (who m. granddaughter of John Alden, Rebecca Pabodie), and Elizabeth, and two that are unnamed. Constant Southworth was brother to Thomas Southworth and both were sons of the second wife of William Brandford and Edward Southworth [Source: The Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England, 1620-33].
