    Married Eulalia in 1619 in England. They then immigrated to America Before 1638 on ship "James". and first settled in Roxbury, CT. In 1639 his home burned, so in 1640 he moved to Springfield, CT. (founded by Wm. Pynchon in 1636). Four times he was elected "selectman", he was also "Clerk of the Writs" and served as substitute minister.
    After marrying Eulalia in England,they had 15 children: Sarah, Samuel, Abigail, Jonathan Deacon, Henry, David, Elizabeth, Mary, Mary 2, Nathaniel, Hannah, Dorcas, Miss., Patience, and Mercy. The first 10 children were born in Devonshire, the last five in Mass. They lived on the west side of Main St. (now Union & Wilcox) on land that extended to the Connecticut River.
    Until his immigration to American, Henry Burt lived at Haberton Co., Devon, England, was a clothier, and in 1624 was taxed on land at Harberton. He came to New England by 1638-39 and settled first at Roxbury, Mass. where his house was burned. In Nov., 1639, the general court made a grant of L8 to the town because of this loss. The following year, he removed to Springfield, Mass., of which town he may be regarded as one of the founding fathers and chief citizens, though he did not arrive with the earliest settlers. He was a member of the first Board of Selectmen in 1644, serving continuously until 1652 and again in 1654. He was first to hold the office of Clerk of Writs, being elected May 29, 1649, and serving until his death in 1662. The vital statistics for that period are in his handwriting.
