Ensminger moved to Nolan County, Texas in 1889. He came from Tennessee to join his brother John. From 1898 to 1902, he carried mail from Merkel to Dora in a buggy. He was the oldest member of the Hylton Masonic Lodge for 43 years. Member of the Dora Woodmen of the World Lodge until it disbanded. Lifetime member of the Baptist church.
